About this work

In 2012, invited by the Museum of Contemporary Arts – MAC’s, Grand-Hornu to create an original work for the exhibition “Le grand Atelier” (designed specifically for children), Guy Rombouts presented this photograph of a cat behind the transparent wall of a window. The curious shape created by the outline of the image is determined by the translation of the title of the work: “A Cat in the Clouds”, written on the basis of the Azart alphabet created by the artist with his wife Monika Droste who died in 1998.

Mac’s

The MAC’s is housed within the former Grand-Hornu colliery, a monument of European industrial heritage that was designated as UNESCO world heritage in 2012. Since the museum opened in 2002, it has welcomed over a million visitors, produced more than 85 exhibitions and promoted numerous artists from the region.
