Meet our curators
Jennifer Plasman has been active as a curator at Allegrarte since March 2019. Jennifer has extensive experience in contemporary art. She has worked for nearly 10 years in several contemporary art galleries based in Brussels (BE): at the “Maruani” gallery, the “Bodson” gallery and the “Super Dakota” gallery. As a director and gallery assistant, she was responsible for the day-to-day management of the gallery. She also worked for more than 5 years for “The Skateroom”, a social entrepreneurship project, with the goal of producing and distributing limited editions for artists worldwide. In 2018, she coordinated and organized a major exhibition bringing together a number of Belgian (talented) artists such as Sébastien Bonin, Patrick Carpentier, David de Tscharner, Raphael Lecoquierre and Brice Guilbert. Today, she works, in addition to her role as curator for Allegrarte, as project coordinator at the CAB Foundation, a minimal and conceptual art space based in Brussels (BE).
Hilde Van Canneyt
Hilde Van Canneyt is best known for her interviews with emerging artists residing in Belgium and the Netherlands. She posts an interview every two weeks on her art blog “hildevancanneyt.blogspot.com” since 2008. In 2013, 85 interviews with Belgian and Dutch artists were published in his first book “Hilde vraagt”. The format of the interview allowed Hilde to translate the motivation and inspiration of the artists in a way that was understandable to the widest possible audience. Easy access and low threshold have made his work very popular over the years. As an art critic, Hilde writes for specialized art magazines such as Beeldenmagazine, Kunstletters, Kunsttijdschrift Vlaanderen, STAALKAART, Academie, … She is a frequent and much appreciated member of art juries (Canvascollectie, Kunstsalon Gent, …) and has organized several art exhibitions (Arttraces, Kunst – Rode Kruis, Courtrai Vlaandert). She is also a member of the Flemish Community’s Cultural Grants Commission.
