Christophe Terlinden (°1969, Belgian, based in Brussels, BE) is a contemporary artist who finds his artistic inspiration in daily life. Transforming, with very few means, the most ordinary of things into unpredictable, peculiar works of art is his trademark. Although he graduated in 1997 from the well-known art school La Cambre (BE) where he obtained a Master’s degree in Visual Arts, Christophe’s art practice started long before at the age of 4 when he made his first drawing. In 2003 he won the prestigious “Prix de la jeune sculpture”. Following his singular artistic approach, Christophe Terlinden has produced a number of surprising projects: creating a flag for the European Union with a golden ring presented to the European Commission in 1999 (then under the direction of Romano Prodi), restoring the master clock at Place du Luxembourg (Brussels, BE), creating the new logo for the contemporary museum of art in Antwerp M HKA (making it unpronounceable without the “U”), installing a modern clock with red, led light digits on top of the historical façade of Thurn & Taxis (Brussels, BE), fashioning a chewing gum machine which produces authentic artworks for 50 eurocents, … His work has been included in collections of renowned cultural institutions and museums such as the Cera Foundation (Louvain, BE), M HKA (museum for contemporary art Antwerp) and MAC (museum for contemporary art of the region Wallonia-Brussels) as well as in important private collections.
