Spruces III
About this work
The roots of the works “Spruces”, trace back to the years 2007-2008 following a series of walks made by the artist in the Hautes Fagnes-Eifel, a natural park on the border between Germany and Belgium, where the artist found hundreds of spruce (in French: épicéa) carcasses lie stripped on the ground. These spruces that follow their own rules set by nature reflect the incapacity and inability of humankind to anticipate and to get control of acts that are inflicted on nature through the human conquest of territory and the industrial exploitation of environment.
