Mac Flann’eries 1

About this work

Brexit 2016. What about Ireland? A mission officer is sent across the border that separates the two Irelands, in order to uncover the north-south differences that justify the splitting of the country and the erection of a new wall, with the commencement of Brexit. Mac Flann’eries is constructed as a virtual, satirical ballad of poetic images that transports us through the country along its internal frontier.

After graduating, she obtained a residency at the “Moonens Foundation(a Belgian foundation constituted to help young talented artists to develop their artistic career named after the Belgian painter Laurent Moonens). One of her paintings was sold at a charity auction held in September 2017, organized by the renowned museum Dhondt-Dhaenens (Deurle, BE) in cooperation with its partner Christie’s. Céline Cuvelier participated in a number of collective exhibitions in Belgium such as la Radieuse, curated by Emmanuel Lambion and Frédéric de Goldschmidt (2016), Masters Salon 2016 at the Vanderborght Buildings (BE), The Bloom Experiment (2016) at the Bloom Hotel (BE), Masters Salon 2016 at the Royal Academy of Antwerp (BE), the Other Stoic Comedian (2016) at SUMMER 78 (BE) and Island Present (2016) at La Vallée (BE).
