Juan Pablo Plazas’ work explores the relationships between language, manufactured objects and consumer society. He collects objects found in the streets, in mundane or specific places, and grants them new life by associating them according to a precise protocol. As an anthropologist he is interested by the object as part of a system, in relation to human communities and natural ecosystems. As an artist he selects and collects mundane objects, then reassembles them, thus creating artworks with strong poetic and humorous qualities.
